Generations Christian Church

Our story

On June 23, 1974 the Community Room at First Federal Saving and Loan Association gave birth to the first service of our church formerly known as, First Christian Church of Tarpon Springs, Florida. From the original small group of 27 people, 12 individuals stepped forth, committing themselves as charter members.  From 1975 to 1977, we continued holding services at the Bayou Social Center in Tarpon Springs. A generous gift of land was given to us by George Hunt on Keystone Road in Tarpon Springs, which paved the road in for the construction of a one-story, colonial style worship center and educational building to be built in 1977.

After the construction of the the worship facilities, the church experienced a dramatic growth, but was hit hard by a sudden death of lead teaching pastor, Tom Phelps, in the late 1980’s. While searching for a new leading pastor, the church pressed forward with continued success while pursuing the expansion of additional facilties.

On November 20, 1988, the congregation celebrated the groundbreaking for our current worship facility. Two years later, they celebrated within the walls of the new building on Easter Sunday, 1990.
