I was taught to tithe as a young child, so giving to God was never the issue. However, it wasn't until about 8 years ago that I began to trust God, and not myself, in the area of my finances. I can't tell you that this study has caused me to make any tremendous changes in my life, but what I can tell you is the part about God blessing your obedience is true. Last summer my husband was told that his company was giving a 20% pay cut across the board. As you can imagine, we were just glad that he still had a job. Unfortunately the cut was going into affect in August, the same month that I would stop receiving child support. It was not an option to stop tithing, but we did need to cut back on something as our income was decreasing by over $1,000 a month. We decided to stop funding our savings just until we saw if we were going to have enough to pay our bills. Well here it is 6 months later and we have reinstated our savings. We had our taxes done last week and we had saved 16% of our income for the year and our giving exceeded last years by 60%. God is so good!

I attend a different church for many years and I understand about tithing. However, after several years in attendance and tithing I was beginning to feel as the only thing the church wanted from me was the dollar. So I left the church. Recently I have felt a pull to attend church again. When my son and daughter-in-law invited me to join them for the Christmas service I decided to go. My first impression was what a big church this was and I wasn't sure that this was the church for me. Well I continued to come with them on Sunday. The day that we put our worries on the stage floor was like a new beginning for me. I had been trying for about two years to get a job and that was my worry that I put before God. Within a months time of regularly attending and tithing on what little money I had I got a job. Praise God. My husband and I have been working very hard to get out of debt by using only what cash we had to buy the necessities and pay our bills. So that part of the sermon talked to me saying that we were doing something right. We gave up a lot of things that were not necessary. I feel that God was directing our lives even though at the time we weren't attending27 the church. He brought us to our knees to get a good look to what is important. Putting God first in my life has made a lot of difference to me. I feel less stressed and have a new outlook on life. My next worry that I am going to put to God is to open my husbands heart and to attend church with me.

Walking by faith isn't being blindly led down a road of uncertainty. Walking by faith is trusting that you are where you are for a reason. Looking for a reason to be where I am at has been a long time quest. Finding the path in which to walk clearly marked with simple directions is a miracle. This series is that miracle.
